Hi Sean, I am not sure I have a weight loss “trick” for you. What seems to work for many to lose weight and for myself to maintain. my weight; is intermittent fasting or (IF).

The 16:8 method seems to be the easiest and most popular, which means that you ONLY eat during an 8-hour period and “fast” for the rest of the day. You can consume the same amount of calories if you are “maintaining” and/or cutting down your caloric intake. But most people when doing (IF) tend to automatically cut calories because they are eating in such a short period of time.

Here is an example of (IF) time periods:

If you start eating at 7 AM, stop eating and start fasting at 3 PM
If you start eating at 11 AM, stop eating and start fasting at 7 PM
If you start eating at 2 PM, stop eating and start fasting at 10 PM
If you start eating at 6 PM, stop eating and start fasting at 2 AM

Personally, I find it works quite well and is not a struggle, and I do more of an 18:6. I will usually do 10 AM–4 PM or 11 AM–5 PM, depending on the day. I also take into account what I eat. I call it “conscious or intuitive eating.”

The other methods are:

(from Healthline Nutrition)

Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example, by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
The 5:2 diet: With this method, you consume only 500–600 calories on two non-consecutive days of the week, but eat normally the other 5 days.

As you can see, the latter two would be much more difficult to do, and a person would have to be quite disciplined.

Guide to show all the different (IF) protocols

Health Benefits of (IF).

Weight loss seems to be the reason why most people try (IF), but it has been shown to have so many health benefits, including:

Human Growth Hormone
Insulin
Cellular repair
Gene expression
Weight Loss
Anti-Aging
Brain Health
Cancer
Insulin Resistance
Heart Health
Inflammation

Everyone should consult a doctor or professional before starting anything new, but this seems to have more positives than negatives.

Here’s another weight-loss trick here.
